Welcome to the Global Music Department's junior ensemble concert!

This concert features two transcultural ensembles from bachelor and junior levels of the global music programme. Focusing on the process of intercultural dialogue and collaboration, the musicians explore diverse musical ideas, approaches, and liminal spaces to create their own unique form of musical expression.

Transcultural Bachelor Ensemble

Global Music Junior Ensemble

  • Suvyakth Acharya – piano, udu drum, vocals
  • Amos Lindblom – violin, darbuka
  • Senny Herler – violin, flute, vocals
  • Sabrina Donovan – piano, udu drum
  • Iris Korpela – vocals
  • Justiina Syrjänen – violin, vocals
  • Merve Abdurrahmani – vocals, ensemble teacher

The ensemble is a group of young musicians inspired by sounds and rhythms from diverse corners of the world. Over the semester, they have been exploring and arranging melodies together, listening closely to one another and discovering how their instruments and voices can blend in new ways.

Global Fest

Global Fest 2025 is the 10th edition of an annual festival featuring students, teachers, alumni and special guests representing Sibelius Academy’s Global Music Department. Bringing together artists from many corners of the world, the Global Music Department focusses on intercultural dialogue and collaboration, creating new artistic work together and fostering a sense of global citizenship. Expect a feast of dynamic, innovative, inspiring concerts and pop-up events, featuring performers from around the world celebrating the diversity of our planet.
