Documentary screening and musical performance

Please note: the concert is in Organo, the documentary screening is in Auditorium.

After two years of adventures in Istanbul she returns to Helsinki with a repertoire full of surprises.

During the evening, a documentary about the windmill neighborhood Yeldeğirmeni by Ekrem Çanak will be premiered, followed by a lively concert performed by musicians traveling from near and far to be on stage before you, offering their fine tuned skills for your delight.

Focus will lay on cosmopolitanism and klezmer music as a tradition of the Ottoman Empire – a joy for those inspired by historically informed music practices. A small introduction to the theme will also be presented as a summary of Alevtina’s fellowship at the Swedish Research Institute in Istanbul and studies in Ottoman court music theory at the Turkish Music State Conservatory. The evening is an ode to the heroic achievements of the brave Alevtina’s fearless fight with windmills in Yeldeğirmeni and beyond and to all those who have guided her along the way of her quest, both musically and spiritually, during the past three years.

Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
