A gardener’s son became one of Finland’s leading composers. Over seven decades, Erik Bergman (1911-2006) composed more than 150 works. Everything he created pointed the way forward. He explored and innovated, irritated and interested. Wivan Nygård-Fagerudd has followed Bergman into the archives and interviewed the composer’s colleagues, choral singers and spouses. The true story paints a portrait of a musician and a man called Erik Bergman.
