Accordionist Teija Niku and pianist Juha Kujanpää are well-known as distinctive composers as well as accomplished instrumentalists.

Their music takes influences from various genres, including folk, classical and jazz. Niku and Kujanpää have collaborated for over 15 years, in e.g. folk music trio Karuna. During the pandemic Niku and Kujanpää came up with an idea to compose new material for piano-accordion duo. Both created material on their own which then took shape in regular joint playing sessions during 2022-2023. In a duo setting, their new compositions come alive as piano and accordion act as equal partners, with Niku and Kujanpää alternating as soloists and accompanists as well as improvising together. Their collaboration culminated with the album “Aamunkoitto” which Rockadillo Records released in March 2025.

Free concerts are held at Musiikkitalo’s terrace on summer afternoons from Thursday to Saturday, from 29 May until 2 August, starting at 5 pm. The concerts feature talented musicians from the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki, as well as other Finnish artists. Throughout the summer, the stage will host a diverse range of interesting artists from different genres: mainly pop music on Thursdays, jazz on Fridays. Additionally, the programme includes interesting performances from the fields of contemporary folk and classical music. The early summer Thursday afternoons are dedicated to the Radio Helsinki KESÄLIVE.

In case of rain, the concert will be held inside in the Musiikkitalo Restaurant.
