Suut

The Suut Ensemble – saxophonist Anna-Sofia Anttonen, soprano Meeri Pulakka, and flutist Livia Schweizer – presents 1+1=3: a concert centered around selected Luciano Berio´s Sequenzas to celebrate his 100th anniversary. In addition to the three solo pieces by the influential Italian composer, the concert will feature duos by composers Rebecca Saunders, Vinko Globokar, and Philippe Leroux. The program brings out with playfulness the complexity of communication and interaction, culminating in a new piece by Meriheini Luoto. Luoto´s piece is inspired by the intersection of folk music tradition and avant-garde in the spirit of Berio. The piece was commissioned by Suut and developed in close collaboration between the composer and the musicians, exploring the possibilities of our instruments and personalities coming together. The concert is supported by the Helsinki Music Centre Foundation, and the composition commission is funded by the Finnish Cultural Foundation.
