Jakub Józef Orliński in Helsinki for the first time!
Polish opera singer and world-renowned countertenor Jakub Józef Orliński is a true star of both the European and international music scene. His virtuoso performance of Baroque music has captivated audiences in the most prestigious concert halls worldwide. The New York Times praises Orliński for his “unique combination of vocal beauty, tonal unity, and remarkable brilliance throughout his entire range.” The Telegraph named him one of the top stars of the 2018-2019 season, placing him alongside Jonas Kaufmann, Elīna Garanča, and Marianne Crebassa.
Orliński has won three OPUS Klassik awards, been nominated for a GRAMMY, and received the prestigious International Opera Awards 2021 in the Solo Album category (alongside Maxim Emelyanychev and his orchestra Il Pomo d’Oro).
Now, audiences in Helsinki have a unique opportunity to witness this extraordinary artist live!
Concert in Helsinki: Rock and Baroque in One SoundOn this special evening, Orliński will present a unique program that reinterprets Baroque music in a contemporary light. Accompanied by piano, bass guitar, and drums, he will perform arias by Monteverdi, Purcell, and Handel in original arrangements. This concert is part of the large-scale #LetsBaRock tour, which will visit eight European cities this fall.
The #LetsBaRock project, created in collaboration with outstanding pianist and composer Aleksander Dębicz, breaks stereotypes about Baroque music, making it more accessible and engaging for modern audiences. The musicians have crafted vibrant covers of Baroque masterpieces, blending them with elements of pop music, while also featuring three original compositions by Dębicz.
To create the unique sound of “New Baroque”, renowned Polish musicians Marcin Ułanowski (drums) and Wojciech Gumiński (bass guitar) joined the project. The program was recorded at the legendary Church Studios in London, where the artists developed a distinctive style that merges tradition with modernity.
This concert promises to be a spectacular event for music lovers. Immerse yourself in the enchanting world of Baroque reimagined, together with Jakub Józef Orliński and the #LetsBaRock project!
