The 80th anniversary concert of the Helsinginkatu Philharmonic Orchestra features Ludwig van Beethoven's 9th symphony "Ode to Joy".

The Helsinginkatu Philharmonic Orchestra (Helsinginkadun Filharmonikot) began as a course at the Helsinki City Adult Education Center in 1945, as an orchestra club. The orchestra has operated under its current name since the early 1990s. This year marks the 80th anniversary of the orchestra’s birth, and it will be celebrated with a jubilee concert at the Helsinki Music Centre featuring works by Beethoven and Rautavaara.

The Helsinginkatu Philharmonic Orchestra annually trains approximately 100 adult orchestral music enthusiasts. The orchestra performs four programs per year, consisting of professional-level repertoire from the classical period to the present day. The orchestra also regularly collaborates with prominent choirs and top soloists in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area, from our country’s leading musicians to future talents.
