George Dalaras brings the soul of Greece to life with rebetiko — the “Greek blues” – in a powerful celebration of music and culture.

Rebetiko is often referred to as the “Greek blues.” This genre, based on traditional Asia Minor music and blended with Greek folk, yet deeply rooted in urban traditions, reached its peak between the 1930s and 1950s. It reflects people’s lives, desires, and struggles. These urban folk songs, often filled with bitterness, pain, and disappointments, are experiencing a renaissance even today.

However, one of the most significant and popular Greek singers and performers, George Dalaras – who has collaborated with stars ranging from Jan Garbarek to Al Di Meola – already launched a new era of rebetiko in the mid-1970s. Through his profound interpretations, powerful performances, and an ensemble of virtuoso musicians, Dalaras invites his audience on a moving journey that celebrates cultural diversity.
