Radion sinfoniaorkesteri

Nicholas Collon, conductor
Jan Lisiecki, piano
Väinö Raitio: Kuutamo Jupiterissa
W. A. Mozart: Piano Concerto No. 22 KV 482
Edward Elgar: Symphony No. 1 A Flat Major Op. 55

When Elgar’s First Symphony was premiered in 1908, the audience simply rose and cheered. 117 years on, it’s still one of the greatest symphonies from the age of Mahler: a sweeping, intensely emotional self-portrait of an artist, crowned by the noblest melody Elgar ever wrote. Pianist Jan Lisiecki will bring out all the poetry in Mozart’s Piano Concerto, and Nicholas Collon opens with an overture that Berlioz said he wrote “on the point of a needle”.
