This programme designed by cellist Eeva Rysä includes two contemporary Finnish works. One of them, by international award-winning composer Jouni Hirvelä, was commissioned by the Finnish Broadcasting Company. The other is Reader by Leevi Räsänen, a reflection on the fact that a book may travel with its reader for long periods of time. The programme concludes with a Trio for Clarinet, Cello and Piano by Vincent d’Indy (1851–1931). The Chamber Music Journal noted back in the day that this is “undeniably an important masterpiece for this ensemble”.
