Organist Ulrich Walther takes the audience on a journey back to the golden age of silent films. In Buster Keaton’s One Week, a newlywed couple is gifted a house delivered as a kit. The instructions state that it can be put up in one week. Of course, absolutely nothing goes to plan. Silly Symphonies is a series of 75 animated shorts that Walt Disney studios used for trying out new animation techniques before deploying them in feature films. Charlie Chaplin explored the characteristics of his now legendary tramp character in his early short A Night in the Show. These moving pictures from a century ago are commented on and coloured by Ulrich Walther improvising music on the Musiikkitalo organ.
