Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it, and I shall move the world

“Practical Mechanics” is a program of contemporary music that discovers the mechanics and mechanisms of music making. Each work explores a certain mechanism and its way to produce a sound, from something as simple as a jacket zipper to the complexity of live electronics, from a motorised glissando inside the piano to a delicate mechanism of chamber music creation. With the mechanics big and small, the program offers the audience works interesting for both eyes and ears.

Carola Bauckholt: Hirn und Ei (2010-2011) for Four Performers
