Georgijs Osokins’ debut as a Deutsche Grammophon artist is a concert honoring Arvo Pärt’s 90th anniversary — premiere of the concert program dedicated to the album For Arvo.

Latvian pianist Georgijs Osokins is one of the most distinctive and original voices on the contemporary music scene. His playing always strikes a delicate balance between deliberate precision and intuitive freedom. Endowed with natural musicality, a deep understanding of style, and a rare individuality, Osokins moves freely between classical and more modern repertoire. He has performed on major stages across Europe, America, and Asia, taken part in prestigious festivals, and earned acclaim from audiences and critics alike for his interpretations of Chopin and Rachmaninoff. His performances are marked by an inner honesty — a rare quality that defines a true artist.

In spring 2025, Georgijs Osokins officially joined the roster of the legendary label Deutsche Grammophon. This milestone is not only a significant achievement for the artist himself but also a major event for the music world at large. A collaboration with Deutsche Grammophon — a label with over 125 years of history — is a mark of artistic excellence, comparable to the highest international honors. The label works exclusively with exceptional musicians — those whose names shape the future of classical music.

Osokins’ first project with the label is the album For Arvo, dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the great Estonian composer Arvo Pärt. Pärt is a towering figure in 20th–21st century music. His journey — from radical avant-garde to sacred minimalism (the so-called “new simplicity”) through his own tintinnabuli style — represents a profound spiritual quest that reflects the inner transformations of an entire era. His music holds silence and light, tension and peace, childlike innocence and metaphysical depth.

For Arvo is a unique project conceived by the pianist, featuring both original works by Pärt and new piano transcriptions created by Osokins. Many of Pärt’s iconic compositions will be heard for the first time in solo piano versions. These are not mere arrangements — they are rebirths of the music, reimagined through the lens of lived artistic experience. With remarkable sensitivity, Osokins reveals hidden layers of meaning, uncovering the true emotional core of Pärt’s minimalism. His name is one to remember for anyone following the evolution of classical music today.

The concert premiere of For Arvo promises to be an event for all who appreciate contemporary classical music, unconventional thinking, and profound artistic vision. For the first time, audiences will witness the birth of a new sound — and a new story.

The album For Arvo was created in partnership with the production agency Wintour Group International and will be released on all platforms on September 5.
CD and Vinyl editions are already available for pre-order on the official Deutsche Grammophon website.
