Opera and Romance on a Summer Evening!

On Saturday 14 June at 5 pm, the Helsinki Music Centre’s Summer Concert Series presents an atmospheric recital featuring soprano Emma Kajander and bass Janne Sihvo, accompanied by pianist Joel Papinoja. Kajander and Sihvo rose to national attention as the winners of the 2025 Lappeenranta Singing Competition. The evening’s programme moves from opera classics to the intimacy of chamber music, with works by Mozart, Puccini, Verdi, Sibelius, and more.

Co-produced with Urkuyö ja Aaria
The Urkuyö & Aaria Festival is one of Finland’s oldest classical music events. Throughout the summer, the festival brings leading names of the art music scene to Espoo and Helsinki, with concerts held every Thursday at 9 PM. The festival’s Artistic Director is tenor Tuomas Katajala.

Free concerts are held at Musiikkitalo’s terrace on summer afternoons from Thursday to Saturday, from 29 May until 2 August, starting at 5 pm. The concerts feature talented musicians from the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki, as well as other Finnish artists. Throughout the summer, the stage will host a diverse range of interesting artists from different genres: mainly pop music on Thursdays, jazz on Fridays. Additionally, the programme includes interesting performances from the fields of contemporary folk and classical music. The early summer Thursday afternoons are dedicated to the Radio Helsinki KESÄLIVE.

In case of rain, the concert will be held inside in the Musiikkitalo Main Foyer.
