Angélica Negrón: The Violinist (first performance in Finland)
Béla Bartók: Contrasts

The Encounters Club, hosted this time by Polish/American violinist Liam Mansfield, seeks to push the boundaries of classical performance through fusion with dance and electronics. Mansfield, who also works as a producer, DJ, and record label head, opens the club night with The Violinist, a piece for violin and electronics by American composer Angélica Negrón – this will be the European premiere of the piece.
Later in the evening, Mansfield is joined by clarinetist Anna-Maija Korsimaa and pianist Matilda Kärkkäinen for a multidisciplinary performance of Contrasts by Hungarian composer Béla Bartók. This three-movement work draws inspiration from Hungarian folk dances. Alongside the musicians, two dancers will take the stage: contemporary dancer Kristina Norri and Hungarian-born József Bódi. The audience can expect an innovative evening of contrasts and excitement.
