Amelie Held is a young representative of the European organ tradition.

Amelie Held has been referred to as the pop star of the organ in the media, and critics praise her virtuosity and ability to emphatise. Held’s studies under the direction of several leading professors, such as Olivier Latry and Ludger Lohmann, culminated in a degree at the Juilliard School in New York. Held will perform a colourful and impressionistic programme, the centrepiece of which is Simon Holt’s solo work Eternity’s Sunrise, which was awarded in the International Kaija Saariaho Organ Composition Competition. The sun and moonlight radiate as the common thread in the programme, of which composers include many famous 20th century names: Louis Vierne, Sigfrid Karg-Elert, and Marcel Dupré. The English composers Alfred Hollins, Leo Sowerby, and Simon Holt form the programme’s another theme.
